Iced Coffee and a Treat from Irving Farm in Millerton

If you need to take a break from all the awesome hands-on fun at our Maker Faire, be sure to drop by the Café area in the Student Center for some coffee and conversation! In the morning we’ll have coffee and pastries from Millerton’s own Irving Farm available and for lunch there will be a selection of wraps on sale.

The Café is also a good spot to pull up a chair and join in the conversation with some of our guests, including:

Northwest Connect, a local group seeking to improve access to broadband Internet in Northwestern Connecticut. It’s hardly news that we have limited options for service in the Tri-State area (The Torrington Register-Citizen ran this story about it almost two years ago and, despite the addition of Frontier to the slate of local providers, not much has changed), but there are efforts underway to change this situation, which would be a boon to businesses and residents of our area.

SCORE Northwest Connecticut, a mentoring group for small and new business owner will also be present in the Café to engage folks who have either started their own business or are thinking of doing so. Their parent organization, SCORE, is a nationwide group with funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration that just celebrated their 50th anniversary. This local group is a partner of the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and the Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce.
